Walking into the Manoir de la Foret was like a step back into a gracious, more leisurely age. The tranquility of its location, the beauty of the surroundings and the style of the interior, were a refreshing change from the usual standard hotel we have come to expect. We spent the evening listening to the sounds of the animals and birds in the surrounding countryside; no traffic noise, no other sounds to distract. Madame Redon is the Manoir's biggest asset. She is warm and charming, speaks excellent english and is full of information about the surrounding area. It was truly a night spent in "The Enchanted Forest".

A wonderful old hunting lodge deep in the forest with beautiful grounds and great food. A perfect place to unwind after a long days drive.
The bedroom was comfortable although in need of some tasteful modernisation.

Marvellous traditional French cooking

The hotel has a very lovely and fabulous location in a forest area, nearby is a small lake. At night only some owl hoots could “disturb” your sleep. In the restaurant you can have warm meals till 22:00. The building is some kind hunting lodge built in the 18th century – so you experience little touch of ancient ages. Hotel staff is very mastered in speaking English.
The breakfast is a standard French petit-déjeuner with coffee, croissants and some butter. But the service personal was pretty kind and could organise some cheese and cooked ham. A little bit vegs woul be pretty fine.

Lovely location
Awful smell on landings. Very poor toilet and shower. Lot of mould in one corner of shower cubicle and old fashioned tiles. Tatty toilet had pink plastic seat on top of white toilet. Really no aesthetic to the room. Could have been so much better with a little care. The bar was horrendous with mismatched chairs, tatty covers for tables. I couldn't have eaten there! Or had breakfast! Peculiar knick-knacks? Eccentric ladymanager? Very expensive menu! It all felt very down at heel and unclean!

Imposing timeless charming chateau located in a peaceful forest stating.
The second floor rooms were a little small.

Architecture, terrace & gardens, elegant reception areas, magnificent dining room. Very good dinner of high standard, but see notes across.
Restaurant policy: very limited menu: the a la carte featured one entrée (foie gras) & only a few main courses, one of which included foie gras again (& we were thus advised, quite rightly, not to have both). The prix fixes similarly limited. Despite these constraints & just four other diners that evening, several items 'not available'. That constitutes very disappointing kitchen management.

1860's manor house in a forest estate. Delightful and accomodating staff. Quiet location accessible by car. Good area for country walks.
Meal choices limited. Nicely presented but we did not dine a second time. Some fixtures were worn or needed maintenance.

A gem of a place tucked away in the forest. I travelled by train from London to Vendome Villiers, took a taxi on from there (€30 20 mins). My double standard room on second floor was comfortable, the bathroom had piping hot water and I enjoyed stunning views over the lovely garden which was full of birdsong. Dinner and lunch (taken on the terrace), were both excellent and accompanied by a very good Loir wine (Reuilly), to accompany both meals. The proprietor couldn't have been friendlier. The hotel is in need of a little repair, but it doesn't get in the way of your comfort or enjoyment of this very unique place. I will definitely return, this time with my husband and son.

The room was basic but comfortable and non pretentious. The view of the gardens was really nice and the tranquillity was superb. The restaurant serves excellent food though service could be more attentive. Being a small family run business all is forgiven as staff are minimal and rely's heavily on the owners to multi task. A charming and authentic hotel which I would stay at again.
